I can't believe my baby is going to Kindergarten!!!

Today was Peyton's Kindergarten registration. I can't believe he is old enough, my baby is going to kindergarten. He was so excited and did a great job. He new everything that Mrs. Weston (his teacher) asked him to do. In fact he didn't even let her start the testing. He walked right in the room and said to her.... "My birthday is on May 17th, I will be 5, I know how to write my name, and I will be in kindergarten next year. When he was done with his 30 min appointment with her, he was very disappointed that he couldn't stay for the rest of the day. We ate lunch with the kids and then went and reported how the day went to his dad.


PS.... I have to tell about his little prayer he said the night before his registration. It was so cute.....
I asked him if he wanted to say his prayers or if he wanted me to. He said "You go first and then I will." So I said a prayer and asked that he would do good at his registration and that he would remember all the things that he had learned and needed to know to go to kindergarten. He then said his prayer and said..... "Dear Heavenly Father, I already know how to write my name, and how to tie my shoes (kind of), I know letters and sounds, and my address and phone #, so I will pass my test. Please bless that I will have a good day. Amen

It was just funny the way he said it. It was almost like he was wondering why I would ask that he would be able to remember it when he already new it. It was probably one of those things that you just had to hear to appreciate it.

He was very disappointed when it was over. He thought that he got to stay for the day. He asked me when all of the other kids would be there. When I told him we had to go home he wasn't very happy. (as you can see on his face)

Strike Two !!!

For Christmas this last year we decided to get Jazz tickets for our kids. When we bought the tickets they were running a deal that you got Bee's Baseball tickets too. We went to the Jazz game in February, but had to wait until the Baseball season started to be able to use the Bee's tickets. The kids have patiently been waiting and the opening night finally came. That was the game we had tickets to. It was on a Thursday night a couple of weeks ago. I was working and was just going to meet Chad and the kids down there. They wanted to go to batting practice and see if they could catch a ball. When I was on my way home from work Chad's sister, Amy, called and said that she heard that the game had been canceled because a previous pitcher from the Bee's got killed that morning. She got word to Chad when he was in Park City. He decided to go find out what was going on and see when we could use the tickets again. The game we were going to for the make-up game was this last Sunday. We again drove to Salt Lake. This time in a rain/snow storm. Chad and I commented to each other that it would just be our luck to go all that way and have it be canceled again. We got there and sure enough the game had been canceled. Can you believe our luck!!!!! They gave us tickets that can be used for any game in the season, so we will for sure plan a time when the weather is nice. Hopefully the 3rd time will be the charm.

We decided that where we were already in Salt Lake that we would take the kids out to dinner. They always like to go somewhere different then the usual McDonald's, Arby's, Wendy's, so we took them to the Mayan. That is always a fun place to go. They have divers putting on a show while you eat, and the kids think it is pretty cool. We also went to a movie while we were there. We went and watched "Monsters vs Aliens" in 3D. It was a really cute show. We ended up having a really fun day.

Pinewood Derby

Tyus got to make a Pinewood Derby Car this year for scouts. He was so excited and enjoyed working on it with his Dad. He got to pick out the style he wanted and how he wanted to decorate it. He had no problem deciding what colors he wanted it to be.... Of course it had to be a Denver Bronco car!!! Him and his dad worked on it every night for about a week.

Tyus got to race in a few races that night. All of his races were really close and had to be decided by a tie breaker. He was really lucky and ended up winning all of the tie breaking races. Because of winning all of his races he got to compete for 1st and 2nd place. He raced against his friend Taylor Hull. They each won one race and again had to have a tie breaker to find a winner. Taylor's car beat Tyus' by just a little and Tyus ended up with 2nd place. Great Job Tyus!!! He was so excited that his car did so well and so was his dad. Because he took 2nd place he and the 1st and 3rd place kids get to take their cars to Evanston and compete in the Regional Derby in May.

All of the boys did a great job and it was a really fun night. They all showed great sportsmanship to each other and everyone was excited to see all of the boys success. Good Job boys!!! And good luck to the top 3 winners when they go and compete in Evanston at the regional Derby.

What nice weather last week..... And then we woke up to snow this morning!! Yuck!!!

Well, we really did have a nice week and it gave us a little taste of what summer will bring. I can't wait!!!! The kids wore short to school everyday last week. I think we saw a high of 75 degrees. I haven't updated my blog for awhile so decided late was better then never.

Last Saturday while we were having great weather we did a lot of things outside as a family. I hardly even saw the kids all weekend. They jumped on the tramp, rode motorbikes and 4-wheelers, and we even had a family game of soccer. Boy, could I feel how out of shape I was after that. When dinner rolled around we decided it was to nice to cook inside, so we built a fire in our fire pit and cooked tinfoil dinners. The kids had so much fun. Peyton wanted to pull our camping trailer out of the shed and camping out that night. After dinner we made smores over the fire. A camping favorite for sure!!!!

I got tagged to blog about the 6th picture in the 6th folder on my computer. This is the picture. What a beautiful one!!! NOT!!! I don't even know for sure why it was taken. I am sitting at the computer and I'm sure Tyus or Peyton was messing around with my camera and took the picture. It was kind of fun doing the tag. I am suppose to tag 6 people to do the same, but I have more then 6 people I would tag. So I am going to tag everyone from my blogger friends and family and anyone else who would like to do it.

Today was a good day

So does it seem like some days just don't go so well?? For our family it seems like we have had more days that haven't seemed to go so good lately. We have had a few struggles the last few weeks with many different things in our lives. I have mentioned in past posts a couple of the things that we have been tryed with..... Dogs being ran over, how to deal with peer pressure, and a very sad little boy. I am very grateful that our trials aren't major things. We are all health and happy for the most part. Our biggest trial right now is that our son Tyus is going through a really hard time. I have learned many things about him and myself through this. I hope that I can do whatever I need to to help him get back to his normal self. It has been a learning process for us all, and I have often wondered if there is ever going to be a light at the end of the tunnel. I think I actually might have seen a glimpse of it today. It was so good to hear some good news........

The day started off with a trip to the vet with our dog Blaze. This poor dog and all of his mishaps- a missing eye, and his latest, a broken leg from getting ran over. Today was the moment of truth. Did the cast work or were we going to hear that it didn't??? They checked his leg out and found that everything looked great and the break healed very well. He was suppose to have his cast on for one more week, but he was getting some sores from the cast rubbing, and it was really starting to stink. They said he was doing so well that they thought he would do better with out the cast, so they took it off as well as the cone around his neck. What a relief!!!! The poor dog. He has been such a trooper and has done very well with his situation, but you could just see it in his eyes. If he could have talked I'm sure he would have yelled a loud.... Thank you, or Finally!!!! You can just tell he is so happy to be freed of all of the annoying extras that had been a part of him for the past 6 weeks. It was so nice to just let him go out with out having to put a bag over his leg to keep his cast dry. I asked Peyton if Blaze went out and found the biggest puddle of water to jump in. He just looked at me like I was crazy, but I wanted to go find one for him to jump in. I don't know about anyone else in the house but I am tired of taking care of a crippled dog. It was a lot more work then I would have imagined. We are really glad it all worked out for the best. My kids are so attached to him and would have been devastated to not have him as a pet.

I also went to Parent Teacher Conference today for Bailey and Tyus. This can cause a little anxiety for anyone. Right??? Well I asked my kids when they got home from school today... "What kind of a report am I going to get tonight from you teachers?" Both responses were the same..... "Good reports Mom." I sure hoped they were right. I went to Tyus' teacher first and got nothing but GREAT things from her. I was so excited!!! She has been so good for Tyus and as excited as I am for school to end and to have a little break, I hate to think that she won't be his teacher next year. She has done some great things for Tyus and we both (Me and Tyus) are really going to miss her. Thanks Mrs. Hoffman your a great teacher!!!!

Off to Bailey's teacher. I am usually not to nervous for a report on her. She usually does really well in school and seems to get along well with people, but lately she is starting to get a little harder to get to do her work. Chad and I have started seeing her attitude about school and her homework change. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I met with her teacher, but to my surprise she is doing very well. In fact she had a B on her last report card and this time her lowest grade was an A-. Her grades are better then they have been in the past and I was shocked because of the change in her attitude. Way to go Bailey!!! I am so proud of both of my kids. It is always nice to hear the positive!!!

So I hope today was a start for good things to come. It seems like when it rains it pours and lately we have had a big rain cloud over head. I am ready for the clouds to move aside and let some sun in. I love my kids so much and only want the best for them. It is so hard to see their pain. I would just love to take it all for them so they didn't have to go through it, but I know something good will come from all the heart ache that they feel. It is just a learning experience for all involved. Keep up the good work kids, and I only hope the best in all they do. I love my kiddos so much!!!!

Woodruff no longer just has a post office. We have a store and a full service salon too!!!

So for the longest time we have told people that we live in a small place that only has houses, a church and a post office. In the last 9 months our little town of Woodruff has added a store and a full service salon. Can you believe it??? We don't have to drive 30 minutes anymore for a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread. But best of all is the Salon that just opened inside of the store.

My friend Cheree Huffaker had a room in her house that she made into a small salon, but when the store opened she got a great idea to build a BIGGER, BETTER, Full Service Salon. I just went there the other day to get my haircut, eyebrows waxed and to tan. We are high class now!!! I took some pictures while I was there.

Bailey's Birthday

Happy 11th Birthday Bailey!!!!!!




So Bailey just celebrated her 11th Birthday. I can't believe she is that old. I don't know if it seems strange, because I still feel like I should be that age or if it is because I shouldn't be this old. Anyway, I think she had a really fun Birthday this year. She got to have 3 parties. One with a couple of friends, another with her Aunt Amy and the Cornia relatives on Amy's Birthday and then on her Birthday we had the Erickson family party. Wow, what a spoiled girl!!! Only 2 years until we officially have a teenager. I don't look forward to that day. She is pre-teen now and sometimes that is enough to scare me away from real teenagers.

This was Bailey's friend party. We went up to her Aunt Susie's house in Evanston so she could help me make the girls BEAUTIFUL!!! The girls had so much fun and so did Susie and I. They got to have their hair done, manicures, pedicures, and then when we were all done we went out to Don Pedros for dinner.

I had to post this picture. My nephew Mayson was with us at dinner and the girls dared him to eat a Jalapeno. Susie told him she would pay him $3.00. He was being macho man and did it. He was so COOL about it until the burn hit. We were all laughing so hard just because of the faces he was pulling. He was trying so hard to be brave. One of the Spanish workers couldn't hold back a little chuckle, but finally came to his rescue and told him to eat some salt. It helped a ton. Thanks Mayson for a good laugh. I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy it as much as we all did. You are a tough kid!!!!
