Is it Spring already????

This is of the clean up down stairs. It flooded the back side of our house. We had to move all of the furniture along the wall and pull the carpet up so that the mat under the carpet could dry.

Chad trying to get as much water out as possible

The outside clean up. As you can see our back yard is right full of water. We had to bucket the water out of the window wells and then shovel the water away from the house. Chad would haul sand in buckets to put around the windows and house to keep the water away. (Yes, I did help clean up. It wasn't just Chad like these pictures show. I am just the only one that knows how to use a camera in our house. That is why there isn't any pictures of me posted on the blog.)

Standing water in the backyard. What a mess it made!!!!!

So today I had to take Peyton to wrestling practice at 3 o'clock. I was getting ready and thought I heard water running. I went to check it out and found that it was water running into my window wells. I just about died!! It was so warm today and the snow melted so fast. I started bucketing water out of the window but it was going in way faster then I was getting it out. I decided I needed to call Chad and he came home from work to help me. We worked on getting the water away from the house for a and finally did it. We have had it happen before and we usually try to be prepared each year so that it won't happen again, but it got warm so early in the year this year that we were not prepared at all. What a mess!!! I was not excited to see how much water made it into the basement. Chad continued to clean up outside and I went to check out the damage. I pulled everything away from the wall and found a pretty wet floor. After moving everything Chad pulled up the carpet and shopvaced as much water as possible out of the carpet and mat. We now have fans blowing to try and dry it out.

Peyton did make it to wrestling practice after all thanks to Carter (Chad's cousin), and thank you Tara (another cousin) for bringing Tyus and Peyton home after practice. What would we do without family and friends??

I will never complain about not having anything to post again. It seems like I have had a ton to talk about lately. I can't even keep up with it all myself.

(I took pictures of the mess, but can't seem to find the attachment I need for my camera to get the pictures to post. I will have to put them on later.)

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Indians.......

Freemont Indian Museum

We went down to Richfield Utah last week for Girls State Basketball. The girls only played one game a day, so we had plenty of time to shop and do the few fun things Richfield has to offer. Chad the boys and I went with Mike, Amy and Wyatt to the Freemont Indian Museum. (Bailey was to busy with her friends to go with us) We watched a short movie about the Indians and how they lived. We walked through a small museum and in the back of it there was a kids exploring zone. The boys had a great time looking through the big Telescope of the Indian writing on the rocks, playing in the Indian House, and Dressing up like the Indians. It was fun for them to get out and play and it sure helped us take up a little time.

Another Jazz Game!!!!

We were on our way to Salt Lake last week to stay with Chad because he had Jury Duty and Chad got a call from one of his friends. He had a couple Jazz tickets for that nights game and wondered if we wanted them. We didn't tell the kids that we were going because we only had 2 tickets. We didn't want to get them to excited and then not have it work out. We called the box office and tryed to get more tickets and they were way more then we wanted to spend, so we just waited to see if we could get tickets from a scalper on the streets. We lucked out and got 3 more tickets for way cheaper and we all got to sit in the bottom of the arena. The kids were so excited to go to the game again, and they were more excited that they got to sit so low and actually see the players. We had to sit in seperate sections, but we were on the 19th and 23rd rows. We had a great time and we are so thankful for Lyndon for getting us a couple of the tickets. Thanks again Lyndon!!!

A shot of the floor from our seats (We were a lot closer then last time)

That is Tyus standing at the bottom in the first row of the green seats. You can't see him very well. He was watching the team warm up and waiting for the game to start.

Reality TV

I am a big fan of Reality TV. I follow American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, The Bachelor, True Beauty, Dancing With The Stars, The Biggest Loser, and any others that are on. I watch so many of them that I have to record them and watch them after the kids go to bed. (Yes this is also an addiction of mine) Thank goodness for DVR. Anyway, I watched the Bachelor last night. It was the women tell all episode. So that means that next week is the season finally and we get to see who Jason picks to be his wife. I have been following it the whole season and think he has made great choices. It is a tough one. I kind of hope he chooses Melissa, but I also think Molly would be a great wife. I can't wait to see what happens. Who knows maybe it will be DeeAnna!!! She is going to try to convince him that she screwed up last season and should have went with him in the first place. If she would have listened to America she would have known Jason was the one for her.
It will be interesting to see what happens!!!

True Beauty is another Reality TV Show that I happened to get interested in. I watch it the first night and saw a guy from Lewiston Idaho on there, so of coarse I had to watch to see how far he made it. Last night was the last episode and he was in the top 3. I thought he would be the winner but ended up in 3rd place. So disappointing!!! The girl that took 1st was way cute and deserved it more then the 2nd place winner, so that was good. You've just got to hope for the locals right???

Chad thinks my Reality TV addiction is crazy, but I don't think it is any different then his sport addiction. He use to tease me all the time, but doesn't anymore. He just deals with it like I deal with his sports.

Not a big fan of Salt Lake driving!!!

So, I have never been a great city driver. I am ok in the smaller cities, but when it comes to Salt Lake I would much rather be the passenger in the car.

Chad got chosen to be on an 18 month Federal Jury last January and had to go to Salt Lake 2 Wednesdays a month. He goes down the Tuesday night before and stays so the kids and I try to go with him as often as we can. During the summer months we went almost every time. There were days that I had to find things to entertain the kids, but we would just mostly do a lot of swimming at the hotel. If we did venture out we would take the trax train to the Gateway and find stuff to do there. There were a few occasions where I would get a little brave and drive to a few places that I knew I wouldn't get to lost. There were a couple of times that I would have to call Chad or my sister-in-law Kerri to help me get to and from places, but for the most part did pretty good.

This last Wednesday Chad had Jury. We were also planning on going to Tristi's State Basketball Tournament down in Richfield UT. It also started on Wednesday so me and the kids just went with him on Tuesday night and then when he got done on Wednesday we were just going to go to Richfield. Chad found out that his Jury was going to be a two dayer this time and so we were going to have to wait until Thursday before we could go to Richfield.

The kids and I were ok with staying in Salt Lake. Alan and Kerri live there and the kids are always excited to see their cousins. On Wednesday afternoon I called Kerri and asked her if she would be home. She said that she would and we decided to go visit. Before leaving the hotel I told her that I was good with getting to her house, but I wasn't sure if I could get back to the hotel we were staying at in Down Town Salt Lake. She assured me that she could get me back with no problems.

I did great getting to her house. No problems at all. We enjoyed our visit. Kerri and I played on the computer most of the time and we showed each other all the ins and outs we had learned about Blogging and Facebooking (yes I am a new facebooker) When I got ready to leave Kerri gave me very detailed directions to get back to the hotel. I repeated all the directions back to her and she confirmed that I had heard her correctly.

So then the ADVENTURE BEGINS !!!!!

I headed out pretty sure that I new exactly where I was going. I kept going through the directions in my head and I did great until I kept repeating 600 North. My focus was on that exit and when I went past 600 South I could see that was the exit I should have taken. Panic hadn't set in yet, and I just decided to get off on the next exit and go back. So that is what I did. Well in Salt Lake that doesn't work all of the time. You can't just get off of an exit and turn around. This exit was not an exit after all it was just a road that took me out of Salt Lake all together. When I realized I couldn't just turn around, I started to panic. I called Chad and told him what I had done and all he could do was laugh at me. I didn't think it was so funny, but he sure did. I was headed out to the Salt Lake Airport, and he didn't know how to tell me how to get back. (He isn't that familiar with that end of the city) After a lot of ummmms from Chad trying to figure out how to get me turned around, he told me to take the Airport exit. I did and ended up in the middle of the airport. He told me to go through the terminal pick up, or the parking and I should be able to go right on out and to the freeway. I chose the parking, but it was some special parking you had to have a pass for. So there I sat in front of a parking lot that I couldn't get into without a pass. No one around to help me. The only thing I could do was turn around and try again. The only kicker is that it is a "One Way" Yes, I drove the wrong way down the road (only for a very short distant) to get out of there. I am sure glad no cops were there at the time. I did finally find my way out of there and did make it back safe and sound to the hotel.

I only yelled at Chad a little while it was all happening. He forgave me for getting mad at him and I forgave him for laughing at me while I was having a crisis moment.

Peyton wasn't to impressed with my driving skills and reminds me quite ofter how crazy of a driver I am. Bailey and Tyus just laugh about it but also think I am pretty crazy. We all had a good laugh and are just glad that we made it back safely.

I called Kerri when I got back to the hotel and repeated the directions back to her again and she said yea that is right why. I told her it was 600 South not North and she about died, but she did inform me that if I would have listened to her and just taken 600 North I still would have made it without going clear out to the airport.

I guess I need experiences like this to make me a better driver. I will never learn unless I try!!!!

My weekly post

Valentines Day

Chad and I had agreed that we weren't going to get anything for each other this year for Valentines Day, because we were going out with friends that night for a very nice dinner. I did get him a card and his favorite Reese's Peanut Butter Hearts. I thought he was going to cuss me for getting him that, but the night before I got a delivery of 2 dozen beautiful Roses. I was so surprised. He isn't all that excited about buying flowers in the first place because they just die, so I was really surprised. They are so pretty and I was so excited to get them even though we weren't going to buy anything. He does LOVE me!!!!! I love flowers and he knows that, so I'm sure that is why he doesn't mind buying me something that just dies. What a great husband I have. I love him so much. We did go out with our friends on Valentines and had a great time.

Bailey Playing the Piano

Bailey has been taking piano lessons for about 5 months. When she first started lessons she only had a keyboard to practice on. We fought her all the time to practice and she didn't like it very well. Tristi, Chad's niece, had a piano that she wasn't using, so we asked if we could borrow it until she needed it again. She gladly gave it up for awhile. Bailey has done so much better on a real piano. She actually likes to sit down and play now. I hope she keeps it up. I wish I would have!!! I know mom you always told me I would regret not doing it, and now I do. Mom's usually know best. Thanks Tristi for letting us store your piano.

Peyton's Homemade Go-Cart

The other day Peyton found a box out in our garage. He brought it in and told me that he had a great idea. I asked him what his great idea was and he told me that he wanted to make a Go-Cart. I told him that I didn't know how to make G0-Carts and he said that I needed to call Aunt Susie because she did. (He made a Go-Cart at her house awhile ago when he was staying up at her house) I decided I better just figure it out and with his help we came up with this. He decorated paper plates for the wheels and steering wheel and he colored the box. We then went through his dads tool box and got some nuts and bolts to fasten the wheels and steering wheel to the box. He did a great job building it and has had a ball playing in it. The wheels really turn and he can steer it. He just can't make it go without someone pushing it for him. So guess who gets to be the motor??? Yep, you got it....ME!!!

I don't know why we buy our kids toys. They seem to like playing in boxes the best. I think we need to just give them empty boxes and see what their creative minds come up with. It would be a lot cheaper!!!

Peyton Says the Darndest Things !!!!!

Peyton isn't the best eater. He isn't a picky eater, he just has a problem sitting down and eating until he is full. Every night right before he goes to bed he thinks he is starving to death. The other night we were getting ready for bed and he said that he was hungry. Chad told him that it was to late to eat and he needed to go to bed and he could eat breakfast in the morning. Peyton came back with... "You know Dad, if I don't eat something I will get sick and die." Chad told him that if he got sick and died that he would take the blame for it. Peyton's come back was... "If I get sick and die, I will call the cops on you." Chad told him that was fine he could call the cops if he died. What a kid!!! He went to bed without anything and he did wake up the next morning. I was so happy that he didn't die and Chad didn't get the cops called on him.

You just never know what kids are going to come up with.

An eventful week

So the last post said how uneventful our weekend was, well that changed this week. We haven't had anything major happen, but it has been a little more exciting then last week. It started off Monday night after school with basketball practice for Bailey. I took her and the boys to Randolph and didn't get home until after 9:00 pm. The kids are suppose to be in bed by then and of course life gets crazy when the schedule changes. The next morning went pretty smooth. I got kids off to school, but not even 1 hour after school started the phone rang. It was Bailey and she was sick. She had coughed all night the night before, but I thought it was from playing ball. I was just on my way to get my hair cut but decided I better go get her first. When I got there she looked awful. Her poor eyes were running so much she looked like she had been crying. She said she had a head ache, sore throat, watery eyes, and just didn't feel good. Thank goodness for Tylenol. Needless to say Bailey has been home the last couple of days just hanging out on the couch. She has felt better, but her darn eyes just won't quit running. She is going to attempt school today.

Chad decided to go snowmobiling with some friends on Tuesday. This was the first time this year that he has went and he was very ready to go. Of course I am the worrier and think of the worse. You always hear of snowmobilers getting caught in avalanches. Chad promises me that they don't go where there is any avalanche danger. They usually just go on flat ground chasing coyotes. It is still in my nature to think the worse so I am always grateful for the call when he is on his way home. That call came around 7 that night and he said he had a great time. When he got home the stories came out. He asked if I wanted to see his battle wounds. I didn't even want to guess what had happened. He took his shirt off and had bruises on both arms and marks across his chest. He had been snowmobiling across a flat spot and the next thing he knew he was laying on his back in the snow with his helmet 15 feet behind him. He said he didn't know what happened but when he looked up his sled was caught in a fence. He had been clothes lined by an electric fence. The posts were white and the wire was small so it all blended in with the snow. He immediately felt his neck to see if he had any injury, but thank goodness his chest took the brunt of the hit. If it would have caught him around the neck it probably wouldn't have been good. He is so sore he can barely move. Now he wonders why I worry about him when he goes!!!! With all the things he does and the stories he tells me when he gets home, I have a right to be worried about him.

Wednesday night we went to a dinner with the Town of Woodruff. They take the ones that have helped with community events each year. It was over in Garden City at Bo Deans restaurant. The food there is wonderful if anyone ever needs a good place to eat. Anyway, we were almost there and we came around a corner just going into town and saw a semi jack knifed across the road. Chad got out to see if he could help. (He really wished he had his plow to pull him on) He had to call Stan Lamborn and he had to bring a chain and they finally got him back on. We sat and waited for about 20 minutes and was late for the dinner. When we got there about 3/4 of the people also going to the dinner were behind the semi too, so we were all late. Thank goodness!!! It was kind of a weird deal.

So like I said, not to major but just an interesting week.

What a quiet week at our house

We have really had a very uneventful week at the Cornia house. I'm not complaining, it has been nice. I wanted to update our blog and didn't have much to update it with. It's not very often that I don't have something to talk about, but this week there isn't much. We just did our usual weekly routine- school, piano, scouts and little league basketball games. Tyus is getting tired of just practicing B-Ball and can't wait until next Saturday, because they were promised that they would get to play a real game. Bailey's game got a little out of control this week and we wonder how the next 3 weeks will be because they only have two teams that are that age group, so they have to play the same team every week. Her team won again and I think the girls on the other team are getting frustrated. I hope it goes ok the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see.

Our family did go the Region Wrestling that was hosted at our High School this year. It was on Saturday. I really haven't gotten into wrestling much since my brothers have been out of school, but it was fun to go and watch and support the Rich High team. Tyus and Peyton both do little league wrestling and love it, so they like to go and watch. We had a few boys that did really well and will be going to State. We wish them all the luck!!!! I was really surprised how many kids I didn't know from our own school. I had to keep asking Chad if he knew who they were. Some he did and some he didn't. I guess there has been alot of people move in and then of course the kids grow up so fast that some of them where kids I use to know when they were younger. Wow, that just makes you feel old!!!! I ran into an old classmate as we were walking out to go home. It was Armando Hernandez. I haven't seen him since the day we graduated. I was so surprised to see him as was he to see me, but we both recognized each other. He said he was there watching his step son wrestle for the Altamont team, he also had a step daughter there that was a cheerleader. It was so fun to see him again.

Hopefully I will have more to write about next time, but for now this is it.

Peyton gets gum out of his hair on his own

Last night I was down stairs putting Peyton to bed and Chad came down with two big chunks of hair with gum stuck to them. It was obviously Peyton's hair, because Bailey and Tyus have lighter hair. Chad asked Peyton if he cut his hair, and his answer was "NO." Chad then asked if someone cut his hair, and the answer was "NO" again. Chad then showed him the chunks of hair he had in his hand and Peyton said, "I didn't cut it, I just pulled it out." I started examining his hair and sure enough he has a huge spot with no hair. It doesn't look like it got cut with scissors, because it is as smooth as a babies bottom. OUCH, I can't imagine pulling out that much of my hair. I guess he didn't want to get in trouble for not keeping his gum in his mouth so he didn't come tell one of us that he got it in his hair. He just took care of the problem himself. Crazy kid!!!!

His dad teased him that he was going to have to get a hair cut like his. Peyton wasn't to hip on that idea. Him and Tyus have both been trying to grow their hair out a little. It is a good thing that his hair is long enough to cover the spot.

What a Game!!!

Wow, what a Super Bowl !!!!! I'm not even that big into football and I thought that was a great game. Chad is such a sports freak as you all probably know, so it was pretty intense for him. Mike, Tristi, and Wyatt came over to watch it with us and the kids and I sure got a kick out of watching Mike and Chad. There was a lot of yelling in excitement as well as disappointment, and a lot of jumping up and down. To bad the out come wasn't exactly what we had hoped for. The final score for Super Bowl #43 was Pittsburg Steelers 27 to Arizona Cardinals 23. (The score is for those of you who didn't watch or don't get that much into football and have forgotten already) Chad and I flew to Arizona last May for a couple Arizona Diamond Back baseball games. We got to our hotel and found out that the Arizona Cardinals defensive football team was staying in the same hotel that we were. They were having their camp that week. Of course Chad thought it was pretty awesome. We saw a few of them through out our stay, but we never did ask any of them for their autographs. Now that they made it to the Super Bowl we could kick ourselves for not trying to get some. Oh well, it is just fun to say that we got to see them.

Having fun with friends

Bailey and I went to Drill Team State yesterday with one of her friends, Shandon Sorochuck and her mom. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed watching all of the teams. Our drill team did so good and we were very proud to be a part of the "Rich Rebelettes." They took 4th place over all, but they danced better then their scores showed. I have no idea what the judges were watching , but it obviously wasn't the same thing we were watching. Good job girls, I know it was disappointing for you.

Bailey and Shandon watching Drill Team State

I babysat one of Peyton's friends, Jeremy Brown, the other day. They had so much fun. It was a very nice day outside and they had fun playing in the snow. They made snow angel and "Plowed" snow off the side walk like Peyton's dad does off the roads. It is so funny watching and listening to kids and how they see the adult world. I seem to get a lot more done in the day when Peyton has someone to play with. He gets so bored in the day when Bailey and Tyus are at school. I have to make everything into a game when I am doing house work, so he thinks I am playing with him. It will be nice when he can go to school and have kids to play with all the time. I won't know what to do with my self when I don't have kids at home to entertain.

Utah Jazz vs Oklahoma City Thunder

We bought jazz tickets for the kids for Christmas this year and they have been so excited to go. They have patiently waited for the big day to come, and finally it is here. Friday night we went to Salt Lake to the Energy Solutions Arena to watch the Jazz take on the Oklahoma City Thunder. The kids had to get all dressed in Jazz attire so no one would mistake them for Thunder fans. We then had to purchase our souvenirs so that we could get it out of the way and so we could enjoy the game. All of the kids decided on Basketballs. The game was kind of a blow out Jazz winning by about 20, but we had a really good time.

Peyton just excited to be at the game and loving
his new ball.

Just waiting patiently for the game to start

GO JAZZ !!!!!!

After the game the kids wanted to try to get autographs from some of the players. We went down to where they were interviewing and got to see Ronnie Brewer. Bailey was hoping for Kyle Korver, because she thinks he is so HOT!!! The boys just wanted to see anyone, but they kind of have a liking for Paul Millsap because they have signed jerseys from him. (Chad has a friend, Lyndon Johnson, that coaches basketball and had Paul Millsaps brother on his team so we got some signed stuff from him.) None of the other players came out to sign so we had to settle for Ron Boone, the commentator for the Jazz. The kids had him sign their basketballs. I guess that will have to do for now. Next time we will have to go earlier to the game so we can maybe get some of the players autographs.
