More Experiences

Sunday was kind of a lazy day. We went to church and then went home and were just lazy.

On our way to church we saw a little parade of people. In the center of the parade was a guy on a horse dressed up in fancy clothes and jewels. It was the guys wedding day and they were celebrating before the ceremony.

They celebrate for a whole week before they get married

Church was very interesting also. There building is very small and not anything like the ones we go to. The picture should explain what I'm talking about. There were only about 100 people total at church and only 18 primary kids. The people that are in the church are very religious and don't take any of it for granite. They are just all so happy to be a part of it. There were 2 sets of missionaries and also the Mission President and his wife are in their ward. One of the missionaries that I talked to was from Cheyenne. I think it is nice for them to see people from their country.
This is Alan and Kerri's church. They have a security guard that watches the building all week. He was waving at me out the window when I took this picture. The church is 4 floors high. It is the craziest church I have ever been in.

After church we went out to eat and had really good Indian food. Katie was a little nervous to eat it, but did have any problems with it. She has kind of had a hard time with the food and smells here. I have had a hard time with the smell but not the food. We haven't quit figured out what the BAD smell is, but it is everywhere we go and sometimes worse then others.

This is the restaurant that we ate at. They call restaurants hotels here

This is the Indian dish that I ate. It was really good. The chicken was a little spicy
but it seems like everything here has a kick to it.

Sunday afternoon the sky clouded up and rained most of the night. When it rains here it doesn't just rain, it POURS!!!! The streets flood in seconds and we have seen a few trees that have tipped over because of the wind.

MEETING VIJAYS FAMILY........ (Alan's and Kerri's Driver)

This is Vijay's family
Vijay, Lakshmi(his wife), Shravia, and Srinadi

On Monday we went to Vijays house to meet his family. It was such an awesome experience and I will never forget it. He lives in a very, very small house. The whole house is probably as big as the smallest bedroom in my house. He was very worried about taking us to his house because it was so small. They are very friendly people and want to give you everything they have. While we were visiting with them they feed us and offered us drinks. They know that we pretty much have everything, but yet they still want to give you all that they have. It is hard to take things from them, but they won't let you tell them no. We definitely take so many things for granite. While we were there we got to see a few neighbor kids and they were so excited to see us. We were excited to give them each a yarn doll that we had made before coming. They were so excited and loved them. Vijay has 2 girls and they are beautiful little girls. Shravia is his oldest and she is 3, Srinadi is the baby and she is 1. We had put together a little goody bag for the girls and also gave them each a doll, blanket, and coloring books. You would have thought that they were celebrating Christmas. In fact that was probably way more then they would ever get for Christmas. We also met his wife Lakshmi she is also beautiful!!!

Katie and I with the family

Srinadi let me hold her. I'm not sure if she was to excited about it, but she was good while I snuggled with her.

These are the girls that we gave the dolls to. They were so excited and it was fun to see the excitement on their faces when we gave them to them.

After visiting Vijay's family we went shopping. That was also a very interesting experience. This is something that I can't describe and I don't know if pictures can even do it justice. It is something that everyone needs to experience. We would walked down the street (sidewalk) and there would be hundreds of shops, and also people walking around trying to sell you stuff. We attract every sales person there because we are white and I guess they know that we have money. A few of the stores that we went to were down allies. It was crazy!!! I thought that we were walking down a sidewalk, but anywhere a car or motorcycle can fit you will see one. I think that is why the shopping experience was so weird, because there were so many shops, people, and then cars and motorcycles. There is so much congestion everywhere you go.

This is one of the shops we went to. It is the tailor that Kerri goes to. It is down an ally and there is barely enough room to walk.

These are some more shops. Cars and motorcycles go down between these shops. I can't believe where a car or motorcycle can fit.

Align Left

This is how they do their sewing. It is a tiny little room with 6 guys sewing.

The women don't wear swimming suits but if they would choose to this is what they would wear. Isn't this cute!!!!

Another very common thing to see on the streets of Bangalore is cows eating garbage. The animals just roam the streets.

We met a guy that was trying to sell us something.... he was so funny!!! The people are very blunt here and will tell you exactly how they see it. He came up to us and asked if me and Katie were Kerri's daughters. Kerri about died and acted offended so then he started to kiss up to her. He kept telling her how pretty her hair was and then he point to me and said.... "She looks like a Chinese Cartoon." He meant that my hair looked like a cartoon character. I have laughed about that so much. They are very funny people.
